Porsche Carrera Cup Launch 2009
I was invited to attend the Porsche Carrera Cup launch earlier this month and boy did I have fun. Special thanks to the organizers and YS Khong for allowing me to tag along with him for this one.
The day started with some speeches and drivers introduction, followed by a group shots on the track, then the Taxi ride in a GT Cup car was superb!. Later on we headed down to the go-kart track for some racing action between all the journalists. Finally took some shots of the drivers practicing with their cars.

Watchmen
I was wondering what the hype was about when they were advertising the movie Watchmen. I did some checking online and I thought it would be a weird movie. But after watching it, I has changed the way I look at it. No doubt the movie has great colors, costumes and interesting characters. But the storyline was interesting, although with quite a lot of conversations but all of them important.
What really caught my attention in the movie was the storyline. After reading most of the Civil War series that Marvel created a couple of years back, the Watchmen storyline was similar but it had a certain twist to the movie which made it interesting. Personally I haven't read all the Watchmen comics yet, but I'm dying to get my hands on the now.
A must watch for any comic fan.

Driving in a Traffic Jam
I wonder how people drive in a jam which moves only a couple of feet every 10-20 seconds. I'm pretty sure people know they won't get very far even if they move super close to the vehicle in front you. That got me wondering how people actually manage to hit the car in front when it is stationary.
That incident happened to me before and especially today. Luckily it was just a nudge, after all the other accidents I've been in and seen, every time I stop I make sure to look at the car which is coming up behind me. Believe me that helped me in one accident in a jam on the highway near the Damansara exit which was slight uphill, I stopped and even had time to put the car into neutral gear and also pulled the handbrake, I noticed the car behind me speeding up and not slowing down, imagine that I even had time to brace myself for the impact....in a jam.
So I wonder, what's wrong? Why do people have to stop so close to the car in front? So close that if you make a mistake you won't even have the time to correct it. What I'm trying to say here is please keep a safe distance from the car in front of you and pay attention!
Guess I was lucky this time, but if anything major did happen, that guy would have had a piece of my mind.

Photoshoot : Toyota Vios TRD 2009
TRD also know as Toyota Racing Development has always been a well known after market brand for the Toyota giant. Performance parts that have been researched and tested on the track and perfected for you everyday workhorse. This week I had the chance to test drive the new Toyota Vios TRD and I must say, it is impressive.
The red decals that Toyota has slapped on to the body of this Vios to give it a really aggressive sporty look, don't expect that to be standard when you get one, although they do stand out in the rear view mirrors on the highway. Apart from that the car has some boy-racer parts inside, standard seats have been replaced with full racing bucket seats for both the passenger and driver, a Momo sports steering wheel has been fitted and a TRD badged gear knob. Getting in and out of the car needs a little getting used to and the seats really hugs around you pretty well. Under the hood we have a standard 1.5L engine which produces 110hp, TRD air filter, radiator cap and engine oil cap have been installed, with a manual gearbox the car feel pretty fast. What really impressed me was the suspension, they are definately harder than the standard model and that improved the handling a lot. Bridgestone RE001 tires were wrapped around the rims, pretty good tires which helps the overall handling of the car in the corners.
One thing I must stress on about this TRD model is the confort level, it may still look like a typical family car but once you get rolling it gets bumpy. But with performance you would have to sacrifice comfort.
Overall I must say that if you are looking for a performance package that come out of the box, then this is the car to get, unfortunately I don't have the official price for the TRD model but my guess is that it would be somewhere around the RM70,000 price range.
