Movie : Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Wow, it's been a while since I watched the last Indiana Jones movie. Since it was Father's day weekend I decided to take mum and dad to watch the movie just like we did all those years ago. It's nice to be able to watch something new that has been watched and enjoyed by your family years ago. It brings back memories, good good memories.

The movie was good, being an Indy fan, I've always loved the storyline and the character played by Harrison Ford. He's a classic and will remain to be one of my most favorite Action, Adventure character. Just go watch the movie, you won't be disappointed.

What kind of Rule is this? Have they gone mad??

WTH is this? Fix other problems like poverty or something else! Why are they focusing on areas like this? I'm speechless.

Script taken from theStar.com.my

"KB council bans lipstick, high heels

KOTA BARU: Muslim women employees working here are forbidden to wear lipstick and high-heeled shoes to work.

This directive is contained in a municipal council circular dated May 25 and signed by its president Shafie Ismail, which has been distributed to business premises here.

A check, however, found that only a few tenants had received the circular this week.
The circular stated that the directive, targeted at Muslim women employees working in food outlets and other business premises, was issued to prevent incidents like rape and illicit sex as well as to safeguard the morals and dignity of Muslim women in Kelantan.

It stated that Muslim women were forbidden to wear thick make-up, bright coloured lipstick and high-heeled shoes which made a tapping sound.

Those who insisted on wearing high-heeled shoes should choose those with rubber soles.

Attempts to contact Shafie for clarification were futile.

The directive on the wearing of lipstick and high-heeled shoes are in addition to the wearing of scarves, which should cover the chest and not be of transparent material, blouses with long sleeves, which were long and loose, as well as socks.

Those who do not adhere to the regulation can be fined up to RM500."

Samsung 40-inch Series 5 LCD TV

It's finally here! Been waiting for about a week I think. Anyways it's finally here and HD is excellent. Setting up the unit was super easy and Sweetie took the opportunity to plug it all up.

The only hiccup was the delivery, we did specify that the TV be delivered around 8pm and to my surprise I got a call around 1pm to confirm if it's possible to send it now! I was kinda puzzled and decided to call the shop that I got it from, after a little explanation I was told that their delivery truck got stolen 2 days ago and now they are using a 3rd Party delivery service. Now I was thinking, that isn't very good for customer service. Plus the delivery person was kinda rude over the phone too. So I got the shop to take the TV back and I'll collect it personally, thanks to Ivan for helping me out with in the Avanza. Thanks a mil!

Hooked up the Xbox 360 to the TV and turned on 1080p to get a super clear output. We're still playing around with the settings so I won't go into too much detail.

But overall the TV looks sleek and good in black.

A New Chapter

It has begun, a new chapter in my life has started. Feels werid to break a routine, but I don't really feel bad about it. Experiencing new things in life is what it's all about. My first day at work was pretty boring, this is because of the various inductions that I have to go through and till now I'm not really done because there are some people who are on leave. I was given a tour of the office and met so many people that I can't even remember 98% of their names.

But all is good so far, I managed to assist in installing a HP Blade server on the rack. First time I've ever put a server to a rack and boy was it heavy!, it weighed around 50kg without the parts and took 3 people to get it aligned and secured.

Taking the LRT is boring! I wished I drove but the jam would make things just as bad as taking the LRT. Lucky I carry an MP3 player around like most people do in the LRT.

Keep on checking back people!

GRA Round 2 2008

It was a wet start for GRA Round 2 as the rain stopped just before the event got underway. Sweetie was geared up for the course which was really technical. She finished 2nd in her class, which was really good since her car was the only automatic transmission in the class.

The technical course layout caught out alot of drivers and even season pros got it wrong and there was quite a few incidents too. I came in 2nd in class and 2nd overall and got my first FTD in my autocross career. Sifu Ivan still made it to the top spot with an impressive drive and only doing 4 runs out of 5. Once again Ian & Jiannin did a spectacular job planning and organizing the event.

Packing up and Moving out

Just 2 more days till I'm free from this hell hole. I've been here for about 4 years in total, it's been an enjoyable run and experience since day 1. Made alot of friends whom I hope will keep in touch with me after my departure. But it's time to move on to experience and learn new skills, it is also time for me to start living on my own. Getting out of the box and taking a risk to learn and to explore life.

I'll update photos from my last day at work soon. :)

I support this!

Petrol Price up by 0.70 cents!

Like upping the petrol price last year wasn't enough, our government decided that it's better to hike up the price once again so that they can reap in the profits. So here's the Million Dollar question "Where does all that money go?". Can we see proof to what happens to all this money that is being poured into the government pocket? Alot of things need to be fixed and with all that money you'd think the government would use it to make changes to the economy. Guess they found out that more and more people are buying cars now so they found a source to earn more money. It's no wonder at the recent elections a certain party lost by a landslide.

Malaysia is suppose to be a multi racial country but it doesn't seem that way if you look closer. We manufacture our own cars, all the other imported and local assembled cars are much more expensive. We have our own oil and gas company, still the price of oil and gas are going up. When it comes to education, scholarships are given to a certain color skinned people without much effort!. What the H3LL is going on here? Where's the fairness to all this?

Damn it!

Car Review : VW Polo GTi

A GTi Polo? Yup you read right! I was never very fond of the Polo, it looked very plain and when I checked out the specs, nothing caught my attention. But when they added the GTi badge to the car it sparked some interest. When I saw the GTi version, it does look a little more sporty, take note that the version we have in Malaysia is a 4-door version. When the car started up I noticed it has a sports muffler! Something that doesn't usually come standard on these kinda cars, very nice touch VW.

I got in the back and took a look around, space isn't bad, lots of leg room and very clean dashboard with big buttons. Nothing new there, after all it's a German car. The other thing I noticed was the 5-speed Manual, yes, Manual gearbox! I never expected that to be in a car like this with this kind of technology. I picked up the Brochure and started to go through the specs. Powered by a 1.8 Turbo engine with a 5-speed Manual gearbox and does 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds, so I thought to myself that there isn't anything special about that.

My test driver took me for a spin on and boy was I surprised! The car jumped forward once the pedal was on the metal, almost instantaneous. I really felt good and addictive! You'd never have expected this from a small car of this size. What caught my attention next was the suspension system, the ride felt excellent over small pot holes and speed bumps, you'd never notice it until you hear a slight softly muted "thump" of the tire over the hole or bump. Like the EOS it also took corners well with little body roll.

Now this is a car I wouldn't mind owning.

Car Review : VW EOS

4 seater, 2-door, convertible? What more could you ask for in a car? I had a chance to ride in the new EOS a couple of weeks back and I must say that I was impressed! I'd never knew that VW was into the small car market. I'm not a convertible kinda guy but I was definitely blown away with this model. How would I describe it? It's as close as owning a real Transformer, I love the way the top folds down into the back, definitely a head turner on the streets.

Powered by a 2.0 Liter Turbo FSI engine coupled with the 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox or DSG for short, expect to be pushed back by the G-Forces. Turbo FSI outputs around 200PS and does 0-100km/h in about 7.9 seconds is great for a small car like this. Suspension does feel sturdy enough to take corners and provides a smooth ride on the flats. I must say it's a car that I wouldn't mind driving to the club, with the top down.

On the outside the car looks almost normal, you would look at the car twice and ask yourself, is that a 2-door? looks like a convertible?. 17" rims come standard on the car which is okay, it would look much better with some after market rims but it does the job well.

I'd only hope to be able to test drive one soon :)
